This weeks Wine of the Week is Codorníu Raventós, Anna de Codorníu Brut.

Style: Cava.

ABV %:

 70% Chardonnay, 15% Parellada, 15% Macabeu / Xarel-lo.

Food Pairing: Apéritif, shellfish, sushi, lightly spiced carpaccio.

Tasting Notes: Pale straw yellow, clean and brilliant. Fine bubbles with continuous beads and persistent mousse. On the nose, it displays delicate aromas of tropical fruit such as pineapple as well as citrus grapefruit and lime. On the palate, it is soft with elegant citrus notes. Well balanced and refreshing.

Fun Fact: Anna de Codorníu Brut was named after Anna Codorníu. Anna was the last of Jaume Codorníu’s descendants to use this surname. In 1659 Anna married Miquel Raventós. Their marriage brought together two important winegrowing families.
